Biography

University of Cincinnati

Jason Kelce’s football journey began at the University of Cincinnati, where he started his career as a walk-on running back, then switched to fullback, and finally to offensive line. His eventual success at left guard and center earned him All-Big East second-team honors twice. After declaring for the 2011 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Jason in the sixth round with the 191st overall pick.

Philadelphia Eagles

Despite being a 6th-round selection, Jason earned his spot as the starting center, becoming the first rookie in Eagles history to start all 16 games at center. In 2013, his 3rd season, Jason was graded as the best center in the NFL by Pro Football Focus, honored with the Ed Block Courage Award, and helped lead the way for the NFL’s leading rusher – LeSean McCoy. In 2017, he earned First-team All-Pro honors and led the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl championship, a 41-33 victory over Tom Brady’s New England Patriots.

After 5 additional years of NFL success, he led the Eagles to another Super Bowl, facing off against the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, and his younger brother Travis Kelce. In fact, this was the first Super Bowl to feature two brothers on opposing teams as players. Ultimately, the Eagles would lose the highly contested game 38-35. Jason played one more season before retiring from the NFL. During his career, Jason earned seven Pro Bowls, named First-Team All-Pro six times, and broke the Eagles record for most consecutive starts. Beyond his on-field achievements, Jason became a beloved figure in Philadelphia for his passion, leadership, and resilience.

Media Career

In addition to his impressive accomplishments on the field, Kece also made several media appearances. Notably, he appeared on the TV show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia to celebrate the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory. He’s also featured in the Amazon Prime Video documentary Kelce. The documentary examines Jason’s football career and private life during the 2022 NFL season. Within 24 hours of its release in 2023, Kelce became the #1 most-watched movie on Prime Video in the United States.

Additionally, alongside his brother Travis, Jason hosts the popular weekly podcast New Heights where they share insights about recent games, unique perspectives on trending NFL news, and entertaining stories from their combined 21 years in the league.

Since 2022, Jason has also released multiple A Philly Special Christmas albums alongside Eagles teammates Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.

On top of all this, Jason has made appearances on Amazon’s Thursday Night Football and participated in WrestleMania XL as well. Today, he works as a broadcaster for ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown.

Philanthropy

In addition to his athletic and broadcasting pursuits, Jason’s philanthropic efforts and community involvement are well-known. He has supported various charitable initiatives, emphasizing the importance of giving back and making a positive impact. He even launched the (Be)Philly Foundation which funds evidence-based programs that directly improve the lives of Philadelphia’s youth. (Be)Philly raises money through conventional fundraising as well as sales of Jason’s Clothing company, Underdog Apparel. 100% of Underdog Apparel’s profits are directed toward the (Be)Philly Foundation.
