Bill O’Brien is a football coach known for taking the reins when the stakes are highest—and delivering results. A longtime assistant across the NFL and NCAA, he first gained national attention when he accepted the head coaching job at Penn State in the wake of scandal and NCAA sanctions. He led the Nittany Lions to back-to-back winning seasons, including the most victories ever by a first-year head coach at the school. For his leadership, he earned Big Ten Coach of the Year, ESPN’s National Coach of the Year, and Paul “Bear” Bryant and George Munger national coaching awards.
After returning to the NFL, now as a head coach, O’Brien guided the Houston Texans to four division titles, four playoff appearances, and back-to-back double-digit win seasons—all while developing some of the league’s top offensive talent. Under his leadership, the Texans became one of the AFC’s most consistent contenders.
After 7 years with the Texans, Bill was let go. He quickly joined the University of Alabama as offensive coordinator, where he coached Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young and helped guide the Crimson Tide to a national championship game appearance. Known for his ability to mentor quarterbacks—Tom Brady included—O’Brien has shaped some of the most elite passers in modern football. During Bill’s two years as offensive coordinator, Alabama achieved a record of 24–4 and averaged over 41 points per game.
Following a brief stint as the Patriot’s offensive coordinator, Bill became the head coach of Boston College in 2024.
In his first season as head coach, he led the Eagles to a bowl game appearance, a top-10 road win at Florida State, and their first sellout crowd in over 15 years. With O’Brien at the helm, BC finished among the top 25 nationally in nine statistical categories, showing his hallmark ability to instill discipline, resilience, and excellence in short order.
