BRYN MAWR, Pa., July 26, 2022 – The Mollie Plotkin Group, a leading speakers bureau and entertainment agency, announced today that member Gregory Offner, Jr., performer, entertainer and keynote speaker, was named Speaker of the Year at the Genie Awards & Educational Luncheon.
The award ceremony, hosted annually by the Meeting Planners International (MPI), Greater New York Chapter, is a celebration of chapter members and their achievements.
Greg was nominated for the award in February 2022 for a speech he gave for MPI. This marked the first in-person keynote that he had done since making the transition to virtual events throughout the pandemic.
The MPI event was a custom program, directed toward meeting planners, promoting intentionality in workplace meeting design. Greg emphasized that we now have a chance to make meetings even better following the COVID pandemic.
“If you were in the room when he presented, you felt his energy start to connect with everyone. I remember looking around and thinking, ‘Wow, this guy is really resonating!’” said Hallia Baker, Vice President, Education at MPI. “It didn’t surprise me at all that our members nominated and selected him as the Speaker of the Year! I’m excited to continue to watch Gregory rise and know he’s a speaker that’s going to be very popular with audiences and planners right now.”
To Greg, being considered for Speaker of the Year came as an unexpected surprise.
“To me, I don’t think I deserve an award,” says Greg. “I started doing this six months before the pandemic happened, and so to leave my full-time job as a consultant and leap into this field right as this happened, I honestly thought that was it.”
Along with Speaker of the Year, some of the other categories at the awards ceremony included Outstanding Contribution by a Planner, Outstanding Contribution by a Supplier and Committee of the Year.
