After setting an NCAA 3-point percentage record (57%) at the University of Arizona, Steve Kerr was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the 2nd round of the 1988 NBA Draft. He played 15 seasons in the NBA with the Suns, Cavaliers, Magic, Bulls, Spurs, & Trail Blazers. However, he is most well-known for his time with Michael Jordan on the Bulls. With the Bulls, Kerr won three consecutive NBA Finals. Following his time in Chicago, Kerr signed with the San Antonio Spurs and won an additional two NBA Finals.
After his playing career, Kerr worked as a broadcast analyst for TNT before his love of the game brought him back on the court. This time as Coach of the Golden State Warriors.
In his first season, Kerr led the Warriors to its first NBA Championship since 1975. The Warriors’ dominance was far from short-lived though. Under Kerr’s leadership, the Warriors made five consecutive NBA Finals appearances in his first five seasons as head coach. On top of that, during the 2015-2016 NBA Season, Kerr and the Warriors set an all-time NBA best regular season record of 73-9 surpassing the previous record set by Kerr as a player with the Bulls. In total Kerr has won 4 NBA Finals with the Warriors and earned numerous accolades, including Coach of the Year.
