Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jorge Posada grew up in a baseball-loving family, with his father, a longtime MLB scout, instilling in him a relentless work ethic from an early age. Baseball was more than just a pastime in the Posada household—it was a way of life. His father, who scouted for multiple MLB teams, provided Jorge with an early education in the game, teaching him the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, and the mental toughness required to succeed at the highest level.
Despite his love for the game, Jorge’s path to the major leagues was anything but easy. He attended Calhoun Community College in Alabama, where he played shortstop before transitioning to catcher, a position change that would shape the trajectory of his career.
