Biography

Instinct. Intelligence. Impact.

Ed Reed redefined what it meant to play safety in the NFL. Known for his uncanny ability to read offenses and make game-changing plays, Reed built a career on turning preparation into anticipation—and instinct into impact. A first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer and member of the NFL 100 All-Time Team, Reed still holds league records for the most career interception return yards (1,590) and the two longest interception returns in history (107 and 106 yards).

Drafted in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens in 2002, Reed quickly became the soul of one of the NFL’s most dominant defenses. Over 11 seasons with the Ravens, he racked up 64 interceptions (seventh-most in NFL history), earned nine Pro Bowl selections, and helped lead Baltimore to victory in Super Bowl XLVII. His ability to shift momentum in an instant—whether with a pick-six, a blocked punt, or a perfectly timed strip—cemented him as the ultimate game-changer.

But Reed’s story began long before NFL stardom. At the University of Miami, he captained the Hurricanes to a national title and still holds the program’s all-time interception record. He was a two-time All-American, Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and part of one of college football’s greatest dynasties. Off the field, Reed also competed in track and field, proving himself a rare multi-sport athlete with an unmatched drive to win.

Beyond the accolades, Ed Reed’s legacy is defined by his leadership, character, and commitment to lifting others. Through the Ed Reed Foundation, he supports underserved youth with educational programs, mentorship, and community outreach. He also served as Chief of Staff for the Miami Hurricanes football program and brings that same mentorship energy to every stage he steps on.
