Biography
Derren Brown originally planned to become a lawyer. He was studying law and German at Bristol University when he witnessed a hypnosis show by Martin Taylor. Ultimately, this was the stimulus that inspired him to choose a new career as a magician, hypnotist, and mentalist. Afterward, Derren Brown started performing stage shows at the university and close-up magic at local bars and restaurants.
Television Specials
In 2000, Derren launched his first show, Mind Control. It was an instant success: revolutionizing the art of mentalism to a whole new concept of exciting and popular entertainment. His television shows have garnered rave reviews and coveted awards including the BAFTA for Best Entertainment. Award-Winning Live Shows

Additionally, his 2017 US debut show SECRET won the New York Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and returned for a sell-out run on Broadway in 2019.
Hire Derren Brown
Derren openly confirms that he does not possess any supernatural or magical powers. However, his performances often expose the methods of those who do, such as faith healers and psychic mediums. Further, he never uses stooges or plants to achieve his work. The participants in his TV projects and live performances are entirely genuine and unwitting. Derren makes it very clear that his performances are simply demonstrations using psychology. intuition, hypnosis, interpretation of body language, and the power of suggestion. He also utilizes the magician’s traditional tools of misdirection, sleight of hand, cold reading, and showmanship. Happy: Why More or Less Everything is Absolutely Fine
Happy questions many modern assumptions about what happiness is and how it should be pursued. Drawing on philosophy, particularly Stoic and Epicurean thinking, the book challenges the promises of relentless positivity, self-belief and goal chasing. Instead, it offers a calmer approach centered on accepting what cannot be controlled, examining desire and appreciating life without turning happiness into another performance metric.
