A former quarterback throughout her youth, Sam wanted a job in the NFL badly enough to mail an actual football from Montreal to New York with her resume attached. Written on the football was the line: “What other quarterback could accurately deliver a ball 386 miles?” It worked.

That unforgettable move landed her an NFL internship in 2003, launching what would become a 23-year career in football.
