Evangelists, theoretically anyway, have the other person’s best
interests at heart. So when I tell you to use Macintosh, or I tell you to use
Canva, I’m thinking of you too, not just me.
To enchant people, which is a higher standard than
simply influencing them or selling to them or promoting to them.
When you enchant someone, you have a relationship that’s deeper,
longer-lasting, mutually beneficial, and voluntary.
The denting of the universe, all that good stuff occurs in the upper
right-hand corner. That is when you are both valuable
and unique. Many of your companies have paid
McKinsey $5 million to tell you, you need to be in the upper right-hand corner.
I’m telling you that for free.
And I think that matrix applies to basically all of
life, whether it’s a product, a service, or whether you’re an
employee. If you are a unique and valuable employee, guess what?
The company has to take care of you.
It starts with the desire to make meaning as opposed to
make money. Making meaning means that you change the
world. And I think you’ll notice that if you happen to change the world,
you will also probably make money.
But if you start off with the sole desire to make money, you probably
won’t make money, you won’t make meaning, you won’t change the world, and you
will probably fail.
