Biography

ʻEwa Beach to Alabama

Born in ʻEwa Beach, Hawaii, Tuanigamanuolepola Tagovailoa always stood out. As a child, he would sleep with a football tucked under his arm and began launching 30-yard passes before most kids could throw for 10 yards. Inspired by his grandfather Chief Seu Tagovailoa’s belief in him and mentored by fellow Saint Louis School alum Marcus Mariota, Tua became a top-ranked quarterback recruit and ultimately committed to the University of Alabama.

Tua’s legend began in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship when he came off the bench as a true freshman and led Alabama to a thrilling overtime victory with a walk-off 41-yard touchdown pass. He went on to break records, win the Maxwell and Walter Camp awards, and finish second in Heisman voting in his sophomore season. Despite a serious hip injury during his junior year, he entered the NFL Draft as one of the most decorated and respected quarterbacks in college football history.

Selected 5th overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft, Tua has consistently defied expectations.
