Biography

One of Football’s Most Dynamic Players

Terrell Owens built a legendary football career through extraordinary talent, relentless determination, and an unmatched competitive spirit. After a standout collegiate career at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he earned First Team All-Southern Conference honors and set a school record by catching a pass in 11 consecutive games, he was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft.

Over the next 15 years, Owens established himself as one of the NFL’s most productive wide receivers. He finished his career with 1,078 receptions, 15,934 receiving yards, and 153 touchdowns while playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals.

His career featured numerous defining moments, including “The Catch II” against the Green Bay Packers in the 1998 playoffs, helping lead the 49ers to one of the greatest playoff comebacks in league history, and a memorable Super Bowl XXXIX performance in which he recorded nine receptions for 122 yards despite returning from a serious injury.

Excellence On and Off the Field

Owens’ accomplishments include six Pro Bowl selections, five Associated Press All-Pro honors, five seasons with 13 or more touchdown receptions, and becoming the first player to score a touchdown in seven consecutive Monday Night Football games. In 2018, he was inducted into both the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Away from football, Owens has dedicated time to philanthropy and advocacy, including his work with the Alzheimer’s Association. Motivated by the loss of his grandmother to the disease, he has worked to raise awareness and support for Alzheimer’s research and education, including testifying before Congress in 2000.

Owens is also a bestselling author whose books include Little T Learns To Share and T.O.’s Finding Fitness. Through his What TO Do Global Campaign, he focuses on empowering and motivating young people through speaking engagements, workshops, and educational initiatives.

Today, Owens combines the lessons of elite athletic performance with his commitment to personal growth, leadership, and service, inspiring audiences to pursue excellence, overcome adversity, and maximize their potential.
