Biography

A Career Built on Excellence

Selected in the first round of the 2005 NHL Draft as the 24th overall pick by the St. Louis Blues, T.J. Oshie developed into one of the NHL’s most respected and productive players. Over the course of more than 1,000 NHL games with St. Louis and Washington, he accumulated more than 600 career points while earning a reputation for leadership, consistency, and competitive excellence.

His accomplishments include selection to the NHL All-Star Game in 2020 and representing the United States on the international stage. In 2013, he helped Team USA earn a bronze medal at the IIHF World Championships.

Champion, Olympian, and Leader

Among the highlights of Oshie’s distinguished career was representing Team USA at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. During that Olympics, he was forever enshrined in hockey history as “T.J. Sochi” when he was repeatedly called upon during the USA’s overtime shootout against Russia. He took six shootout attempts, scored four (of the USA’s 5 shootout goals), and netted the game-winner for USA. It’s rare a player is called for more than one attempt, even rarer on the Olympic stage, but T.J. Oshie stepped up to the challenge and became a hockey legend.

He later reached another pinnacle of hockey in 2018, when he led the Washington Capitals to their first and only Stanley Cup victory.
