Biography
Maggie Zhu was born and raised in Beijing. As a child, her father took her to restaurants that served western food every other week. Although, the western food that was available in China as of the 1990s was French-influenced Russian food. Even still, Zhu’s culinary adventurism from a young age would lay the foundation for her future career. In 2007, Maggie Zhu moved to Japan where she first learned to cook foreign cuisine in her home kitchen.
In 2013, Maggie Zhu started Omnivore’s Cookbook, a massively successful blog. Her mission is to introduce a wide audience to authentic Chinese food and expose less-known regional cuisines. More importantly, she wants to show her audiences how easy it is to cook with wholesome ingredients. With her recipes, you can create delicious dishes, just like those served in Chinese Restaurants.
