Biography

Kevin Clayton is Senior Vice President, Head of Social Impact and Equity for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. Before working for the Cavaliers, Kevin previously held senior-level DEI positions at Russell Athletic/Spalding, Bon Secours Mercy Health, the United States Tennis Association, and the American Cancer Society, along with being managing partner of JumpBall LLC, an entity he founded in 2012.

Impactful Social Equity in Business

As a Cleveland, Ohio native and college basketball captain, Kevin is extremely proud to be working for his hometown Cavaliers. Now, he is responsible for developing and leading the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategic plan for Rock Entertainment Group, which includes the Cavaliers, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Cleveland Charge, Cleveland Monsters, and the Cavaliers Legion Gaming Club. He also oversees the Cavaliers Community Relations team and the Cavaliers’ Community Foundation. Additionally, he is Vice Chair of the Greater Cleveland Urban League, part of the Three Team Alliance leadership team, and a Board Member at United Way of Greater Cleveland, Community Health Charities, and the Cleveland City Club.

As a member of the Three Team Alliance leadership team, Kevin has made Cleveland “the only city where three sports teams [the Cavaliers, the NFL’s Browns and MLB’s Guardians] have met every two weeks for the past three years around issues for social justice.” Moreover, he was the leading force behind the Cavaliers’ innovative DEI Scorecard – which directly affects executive compensation throughout the organization based on metrics in team member representation, culture, training and education, supplier diversity, and marketplace & community engagement.
