Captain Comeback

Jim Harbaugh’s football legacy is nothing short of extraordinary. As a player, he was among the most efficient passers in NCAA history at the University of Michigan and went on to a 15-year NFL career, highlighted by a Pro Bowl selection and an AFC Championship appearance with the Indianapolis Colts. Known as “Captain Comeback” for his ability to rally teams from behind, Harbaugh was inducted into the Colts Ring of Honor in 2005.

Beginning of Coaching Career

After hanging up his cleats, Harbaugh transitioned to coaching—and he didn’t waste time making an impact. He turned the University of San Diego and then Stanford into winning programs, pulled off one of the greatest upsets in college football history against USC, and coached Heisman finalists along the way.

In 2011, he took over the San Francisco 49ers and immediately turned them into Super Bowl contenders, leading them to three straight NFC Championship Games and Super Bowl XLVII. His 49–22–1 record in the NFL remains one of the most successful starts for any head coach.

The Return of Big Blue Dominance

Returning to Michigan in 2015, Harbaugh set out to restore a legendary program—and he did. Over nine seasons, he led the Wolverines to a 74–25 record, three Big Ten Championships, and a perfect 15–0 National Championship season in 2023–24. Michigan returned to the pinnacle of college football under his watch, driven by Harbaugh’s signature brand of toughness, culture-building, and relentless drive.

Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach

In 2024, Harbaugh returned to the NFL as the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers. He immediately led the team to an 11–6 record and a playoff berth in his first season. He continues to lead the Chargers today as one of the NFL’s most authentic and motivating coaches.
