World Series MVP

In 2002, Cole Hamels was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round of the MLB Draft. After 4 years in the Phillies farm system, Cole made his major league debut and immediately made an impact. In his rookie season, he finished with a 9-8 record and a solid 4.08 ERA. The following year, in 2007, Cole emerged as a dominant force on the mound. He finished the season with a 15-5 record and a stellar 3.39 ERA. However, six days later, he was traded to the Texas Rangers. He became the first pitcher to be traded during the regular season after pitching a no-hitter in his final start. Nonetheless, the trade marked a new chapter in his career and an opportunity to prove himself once again.

In his first full season with the Rangers, Cole posted a 15-5 record with a 3.32 ERA. He recorded over 200 strikeouts for the 5th time in his career, earned his 4th All-Star, and solidified himself as an ace in the Rangers’ rotation. His success continued in subsequent seasons, as he consistently delivered strong performances and helped lead the Rangers to playoff contention. Although the Rangers fell short of World Series titles in 2015 and 2016, Cole’s playoff performances solidified his reputation as a clutch pitcher.
