A Star in the Making

Raised in Rancho Cucamonga, California, C.J. Stroud grew up under the shadow of hardship. After his father’s incarceration during his middle school years, C.J. and his family faced financial and emotional adversity—living in a small apartment above a storage facility. It was during these formative years that Stroud found strength in his faith and a passion for football that would fuel his meteoric rise.

By his senior year of high school, C.J. had gone from overlooked recruit to one of the highest-rated quarterbacks of his class. Eventually, he committed to Ohio State where he became one of the most decorated quarterbacks in program history.

At Ohio State, C.J. set the school record for most passing yards in a single game (573) and became the first quarterback in school history to throw six touchdown passes in three different games. He was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, and a relentless competitor who consistently delivered in high-pressure moments—most notably in the 2022 Rose Bowl, where he threw for that record-breaking 573 yards and six touchdowns in a comeback win over Utah.

A Rookie Season for the Ages

Drafted second overall by the Houston Texans in 2023, C.J. didn’t just meet expectations—he shattered them. His 470-yard, five-touchdown performance in a comeback win over the Buccaneers broke the NFL rookie single-game passing record and instantly etched his name into league history. He led the Texans to a divisional title and Wild Card win, becoming the youngest quarterback ever to win a postseason game. C.J. also set rookie records for most passing yards in a season (4,108), highest passer rating by a rookie (147.8), and most games with 350+ yards. He capped his season as a Pro Bowler and the unanimous Offensive Rookie of the Year.
