Georgia Tech Legend
Before the NFL, Calvin Johnson Jr. starred at Georgia Tech, where he became one of the most decorated players in program history. He was a two-time First-Team All-American, a three-time All-ACC selection, and the winner of the 2006 Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver. His school records include most career receiving yards (2,927), touchdowns (28), and 100-yard games (13). He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
Megatron
At 6’5” and 237 pounds, with 4.35 speed and record-shattering production, Calvin Johnson was a once-in-a-generation athlete. Drafted #2 overall by the Detroit Lions in 2007, Johnson spent nine seasons terrorizing defensive backs across the league. He earned six consecutive Pro Bowl selections (2010–2015), three First-Team All-Pro honors, and holds the NFL record for most receiving yards in a single season (1,964).
Known for his rare combination of size, speed, body control, and football IQ, Calvin totaled 731 receptions, 11,619 receiving yards, and 83 touchdowns before retiring in 2015—at the height of his career. So widely beloved, one of Calvin’s greatest adversaries, Charles Tillman, wrote him an open letter upon news of Megatron’s retirement. He is tied for the most 100-yard receiving games in a season (11), most games with 200+ receiving yards (5), and ranks among the top receivers in NFL history for consistency and explosiveness.
In 2021, Johnson joined the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a first ballot inductee, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest wide receivers to ever play the game.
Entrepreneurial Vision
Since leaving the NFL, Johnson has pursued a new form of impact. As co-founder of Primitiv Group, a cannabis wellness company focused on plant-based recovery, he’s bringing science-backed alternatives to those suffering from chronic pain, CTE, and other long-term injuries. In partnership with Harvard’s International Phytomedicines and Medical Cannabis Institute, Primitiv is advancing research that bridges the gap between performance, healing, and innovation.
He’s also a founding partner of Locker Room Consulting, helping athletes transition from the field to the boardroom, and is active in real estate development throughout the Detroit area.
Philanthropy and Mentorship
Through the Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation, Calvin provides scholarships, educational resources, and career mentoring to at-risk youth. His foundation focuses on empowering the next generation to overcome socioeconomic challenges and become leaders in their communities.
Whether he’s mentoring young athletes, advising entrepreneurs, or speaking on stage, Calvin Johnson brings the same passion, humility, and drive that defined his playing career to every arena.
