NFL All-Pro
Kyle Long built a distinguished NFL career as an offensive lineman for the Chicago Bears. Selected with the 20th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Long made an immediate impact, becoming the first Bears rookie to start a season opener at right guard in the Super Bowl era. His debut season earned him a place on the PFWA All-Rookie Team and his first Pro Bowl selection.
Long went on to earn three consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2013 through 2015, along with Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2014. Demonstrating versatility across the offensive line, he played both guard and tackle during his seven seasons in Chicago.
Despite battling multiple injuries throughout his career, Long established himself as one of the franchise’s notable offensive linemen. In 2019, he was named among the 100 greatest Chicago Bears of all time.
Long announced his retirement in January 2020 before returning to professional football with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021. Although injuries prevented him from appearing in a game with Kansas City, his return marked the final chapter of his playing career.
Football runs in the Long family. His father, Howie Long, is a Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end, while his older brother, Chris Long, also played defensive end in the NFL. Before entering professional football, Kyle was also an accomplished baseball player, selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 23rd round of the 2008 MLB Draft.
CBS Sports Analyst
Following his initial retirement from the NFL, Long transitioned into sports broadcasting, joining CBS Sports in 2020 as an analyst on CBS Sports Network’s That Other Pregame Show.
After his 2021 return to football with Kansas City, Long rejoined CBS Sports in 2022, expanding his broadcasting career through NFL coverage on CBS Sports HQ and The NFL Today+.
In 2026, Long joined the studio desk of The NFL Today, CBS Sports’ NFL pregame show. He also still serves as an analyst on The NFL Today+ and CBS Sports HQ, drawing on his professional playing experience to provide perspective on the players, teams, and competition across the NFL.
Beyond football and broadcasting, Long has also pursued interests in motorsports and esports. He is a part-owner of Mode Motorsports, an esports team competing in the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series, and has co-hosted a weekly NASCAR talk show alongside Paul Swan.
