Biography
University of New Hampshire QB
Born and raised in Manchester, New Hampshire, Ryan Day was a standout quarterback and defensive back at Manchester Central High School before playing quarterback for the University of New Hampshire. Under offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, Day set multiple school records and captained the Wildcats as a senior.
Ohio State Head Coach
After transitioning into coaching in 2002, Ryan Day built an impressive résumé with stops at Florida, Temple, and Boston College, followed by a leap to the NFL as a quarterbacks coach with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers. In 2017, he joined Ohio State, and within two years, he took over as the 24th head coach in program history.
His coaching career has been defined by innovation, results, and leadership under pressure. Day became the first coach in Ohio State history to win back-to-back Big Ten titles in his first two seasons, and was named Big Ten Coach of the Year and FWAA First-Year Coach of the Year. He even led the Buckeyes to a 23-game winning streak. In 2025, he captured his first National Championship, defeating Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff title game.
But Ryan Day’s legacy isn’t just wins—it’s transformation. Under his guidance, Ohio State has consistently ranked among the nation’s elite in offensive efficiency, quarterback development, and program culture.
Mental Health Advocacy
Behind the success, Ryan has never shied away from sharing his personal story. After losing his father to suicide at age nine, he spent years avoiding the conversation—until he chose to speak out publicly. Since then, Ryan and his wife Nina have become national advocates for mental health awareness. They founded the Nina and Ryan Day Resilience Fund at Nationwide Children’s Hospital to break the stigma around mental health and support youth and families nationwide.
Whether addressing a locker room or a corporate team, Ryan Day brings vulnerability, courage, conviction, and success to every stage.
