Dominance In The 400m Hurdles

Edwin Moses carried out one of the most dominant reigns in world sports. For ten years, he was unbeaten in the 400 meters hurdles. That is 122 consecutive races (107 finals)! During this time, Moses set multiple world records and gold medals at the World Championships twice, the IAAF World Cup three times, and the Olympic Games twice. Moses qualified for the 1980 U.S. Olympic team but was unable to compete due to the 1980 Summer Olympics boycott.

Work Against PEDs

Edwin is also one of the few athletes to become a true global ambassador of the sport. He is famed for his work against performance-enhancing drugs. In 2009, the University of Massachusetts gave Edwin an honorary Doctor of Science degree for his efforts and for using sports as a tool for social change. He is also the Emeritus, Chairman of the Board of the United States Anti-Doping Agency.

Edwin Moses has an MBA from Pepperdine University and has previously worked as a Financial Consultant. In 2000, the members of the Laureus World Sports Academy chose Edwin as the Chairman. He is still Chairman to this day.

Additionally, he has a Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian award that Congress can give. He earned this award during the boycott of the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. The White House also named Edwin as a commissioner and selector of applicants for the White House Fellowship Programme in 1993.
